Defining System-Wide Process Settings
WMS+ Process Settings control system behavior during warehouse workflows like receiving, picking, transfers, production, shipping, and returns. They determine steps such as confirmations, label printing, scanning, batch enforcement, pallet use and more.
Process Settings are configured in the Admin Panel under:
Admin Panel → Common Configuration → Process Settings
Settings apply hierarchically, with more specific levels overriding broader ones, allowing administrators to tailor WMS+ behavior to meet the needs of companies, branches, departments or users.
Configuration Hierarchy
Level | Applies To | Overrides | Use Case Example |
|---|---|---|---|
Company | All users, all locations | N/A | Set default pallet behavior across all processes (e.g., enable pallet scanning). |
Branch | All users in a specific SAP Business One-defined warehouse | Company | Adjust label printing or batch override rules for a specific regional warehouse. |
Department | Users grouped by department or function | Branch | Use different picking logic for Production vs Sales teams (e.g., bin sequence rules). |
User Defaults | Multiple users sharing the same SAP Business One User Default group | Department | Apply common scan settings for a group (e.g., catchweight prompts in packing). |
User | Individual user | All | Grant label reprint or manual close access for a specific supervisor. |
Selecting a Process to Configure
From the Process Settings screen, administrators use the Select Settings dropdown to choose a workflow:
Receiving
Production Issue
Return to Vendor
Transfer Issue
Inventory Adjustment
Production Receipt
Shipping
Sales Return
Transfer Receipt
Return from Customer
Counting
The available configuration options update based on the selected process.
Process Setting Categories and Example Fields
Settings are grouped by category, each shaping device behavior during the selected process.
General Settings
Controls whether the process is enabled and determines if the configuration is applied.
Scan Counter: Enables live scan tracking across Receiving, Shipping and Counting workflows.
Inventory Operations
Affects how items and quantities are handled during receiving.
Allow Over-Pick/Receive: Allows quantities received to exceed the expected document quantity.
Allow to Add Lines: Enables users to add new lines during the receiving process
Batches and Serials
Defines how batch values are captured and validated.
Show Batch Attribute 1: Displays the first defined batch attribute field to be populated during receiving.
Allow Override Assignment: Allow users to select a different batch.
Shipping
Control how outbound transactions are created and finalized during shipment.
Copy all Contents to Delivery: Indicates whether the entire contents of the Sales Order should be copied to the Delivery document in SAP Business One. When enabled, non-shipped lines are copied to the Delivery with a quantity of 0 to maintain the original document structure. When disabled, only shipped lines are included.
To enable: Admin Panel → Common Configuration → Process Settings → Shipping → Inventory Operations, then toggle Copy all Contents to Delivery to yes. The change applies automatically the next time a Shipping process is executed.
Pallets
Controls pallet creation and labeling behavior.
Palletizing: Enables creation of pallets during receiving transactions.
Pallets Prefix: Sets the default label prefix for any pallets generated during this process.
Pallet Pick Mode: Defines the default action when picking items from existing pallets. Options include Pick Whole Pallet, Pick Items from Pallet, Break Pallet or Ask User.
Remember User Pallet Pick Mode: Determines whether WMS+ should retain the user’s chosen pick mode for the duration of the session.
Guided Picking
Affects sequence and bin-level picking behavior.
Display Default/Allocated Bin Location in Line: Displays the suggested or allocated bin in the transaction grid line.
Sort Direction: Sets whether bin suggestions are sorted ascending or descending by the selected method.
Advanced Quantity & Weight Handling
Used when working with catchweights or integrated scales.
Enable Scan to Weigh: Triggers scale reading on item scan during receiving.
CW Tolerance Enforcement: Defines whether out-of-tolerance catchweights are blocked, warned, or allowed.
Common Admin Actions
When configuring settings under Branch, Department, User Defaults or User, the following options are available:
Add New: Create a new configuration row for a process.
Delete: Remove an existing configuration.
Select All / Unselect All: Manage multiple configurations in bulk.
After changes are saved, the new configurations override more general settings for the same process and take effect the next time the user logs in.
Tips for Administrators
Start at the Company level and configure baseline behavior for each process.
Use Branch and Department levels to handle regional or functional differences.
Apply User Defaults to simplify configuration for large groups.
Use user-level overrides only when absolutely necessary.
Always test configuration changes in a staging environment before rolling them out.
