Scanning, Manual Input and Swipe Interactions

      1 Scanning | 2 Manual Input | 3 Selection from a List | 4 Swipe Interactions | 5 Summary
      [ 1 Scanning ] [ 2 Manual Input ] [ 3 Selection from a List ]

WMS+ supports several ways for users to enter and interact with data during warehouse operations. The most efficient method is barcode scanning, but manual input and list selection are also available to handle real-world scenarios, such as those involving missing or damaged labels. Swipe actions make navigation and data entry faster.

      Scanning

Scanning GS1-formatted barcodes allows WMS+ to automatically extract inventory details encoded in the barcode and populate associated fields, including:

      • Item code.

      • Quantity.

      • Batch number (if the item is batch-managed in SAP Business One).

      • Expiration date and manufacturing date (if encoded).

Scanning is supported across receiving, picking, transfers, and production transactions. When a GS1 barcode is scanned, WMS+ parses the encoded information and applies it to the correct line. Scanning bin location barcodes ensures inventory is moved accurately between the origin and destination.

      Manual Input

When barcodes are unavailable or unreadable, users can manually enter the data. This usually involves selecting the item row to open the batch or serial number screen.

From this screen, the user can:

      • Enter a batch number.

      • Fill in batch attributes such as expiration and manufacturing dates.

      • Enter the received or picked quantity.

      • Click Add to confirm the entry.

Manual input is also used when creating new batch numbers for incoming items or recording data for hand-labeled stock.

      Selection from a List

When scanning is not used or when users need to review available options, WMS+ allows values to be selected from a list. This applies to:

      • Selecting a bin location manually using the bin icon.

      • Allocating items from the bin contents screen.

      • Choosing a batch or serial number from a pre-filtered list of available inventory items.

List selection reduces user error since only valid inventory or document options are shown.

Swipe Left – Invoice Summary (DSD Only)
Only Create Invoice (DSD) supports a swipe-left gesture, which opens a summary showing:

      Summary

WMS+ provides multiple ways to capture and confirm inventory data during warehouse operations. Barcode scanning is the most efficient method, but manual input and list selection ensure flexibility when labels are missing or unreadable. Swipe actions further improve speed and visibility in supported workflows, giving users consistent and accurate options across receiving, transfers, production and outbound processes.
