In WMS+, a pallet is a group of inventory items assigned a unique license plate number, allowing the pallet to be scanned, moved and tracked as a single unit during receiving, transfers, shipping and returns. Pallets improve warehouse efficiency and inventory traceability, particularly in high-volume, route-based or cold-chain operations.

Not all customers require pallet handling. If enabled, WMS+ creates and manages license plates according to the settings in the Admin Panel → Process Settings.

    Enabling Pallet Handling in WMS+

Pallet handling is activated per workflow by toggling Palletizing in Process Settings. When enabled, WMS+ uses the configured prefix and numbering scheme to create unique license plates.

    Key options:

    • Palletizing Toggle: Enables or disables pallet creation for the selected workflow.

    • Pallets Prefix: Defines the prefix of the 18-digit SSCC (Serial Shipping Container Code) license plate number. The system auto-increments the remainder of the number (e.g., 100000000000001042 → 100000000000001059).

    • Start with New Pallet: Automatically begins each new document with a fresh pallet.

    Creating a New Pallet

In an enabled workflow, click New Pallet to generate a license plate ID.

    Once a pallet is active:

    • All scanned or manually entered items are grouped under that pallet until it is finalized or replaced.

    • Quantities and batch details can be entered and adjusted before confirmation.

    Confirming Pallet Contents

After items are added, the Pallet Contents screen shows all items assigned to the pallet. You can:

    • View pallet items.

    • Adjust quantities using the plus or minus controls.

    • Click Done to confirm.

Confirmed lines appear in green, indicating they are ready for the next step.

    Managing Multiple Pallets

You can create multiple pallets within the same document. Each pallet:

    • Receives a unique license plate.

    • Can be staged or routed independently.

    • Is tracked in SAP Business One for full traceability.

    Viewing Created Pallets

Select Pallets from the top-left menu (≡) to review all pallets created during the current trip. The Pallets screen lists each license plate with print and delete icons.

    Points to note:

    • Item-level details are not shown.

    • Pallets can be reprinted or deleted before completion.

    Label Printing and Finalization

    When the trip is completed:

    • If label printing is enabled, WMS+ prompts you to print the pallet label.

    • The label includes pallet ID, warehouse, date, and optional zone.

    • It can be scanned for future operations such as putaway, returns, or picking.

Once printed, the pallet is recorded in the pallet log, ensuring full audit traceability and accurate tracking of physical stock movement.

    Summary

Pallets in WMS+ group multiple items under a unique license plate, enabling faster movements, clearer traceability and simplified labeling. When enabled in Process Settings, pallets can be created, confirmed and labeled across receiving, transfers and outbound processes. Each pallet is tracked in SAP Business One for full audit and operational visibility.
